assitive tech

  • What are three items you found in your reading/research that could be considered AT? Describe how these devices support a student in your (future) classroom. If you've seen AT supports in action personally, include your personal knowledge or observations.
  • Why is it necessary to consider AT supports for students with disabilities?
  • What is your role (your future teacher role) in implementing AT tools for your students?
  • Do a search on Twitter for #assistivetech or #assistivetechnology and reTweet at least one post that aligns with what you're learning about assistive technology (don't forget to add #edu219 so we can all benefit!)

When researching I found that the talk to text what is in assistive technology as well as editor on your computer. I personally use both these almost every day due to the fact that I'm writing papers and blogs every day I think that these would be very good for students to use in the future especially for students that have a hard time typing as well as being able to review their paper without asking somebody else. the final thing that I saw that was assistive technology was glasses that you could take a pen and scan and it would enlighten the text onto the glasses so that people with visual impairments can see. I think it's necessary to consider assistive technology supports for students with disabilities because it will allow them to be able to reach the same level as production just with adaptation. I would say that my role as a teacher in implementing assistive technology to my students would be that work smarter not harder so whatever technology that my students can't use to improve their well being as a student or a person in general go for it.
