best part of second placement/ strategies we learned

I would say that the best part of my second placement is having those deep and meaningful conversations with students that actual spark learning as well as the joking more off topic conversations that's all high school is , communication and learning. I try and push my students in class and build the foundation of having a strong confidence in speaking/speech. strategies I've learned is having time management and work load. students will get burnt out if i just continue to talk to teach which i tend to do. i have been working on giving students time to digest as well as have built in breaks with in a lesson. i want to allow them to hit a check point in my learning allowing them to have self made and DOK ideas/thoughts. Students retain more information as well as can apply it i have found this out throughout my lessons and teachings that if i try and teach a heavier work load in greater amount of time it tends to not stick as well or have more basic questions that have been covered. just having that control ad being able to read when kids are about to jump ship is important.

transitions: culture/rapport

My transitions from elementary to high school have been exciting its way different then obviously but just the kids in general there older and have bigger attitudes, and phones and devices are such a huge problem here at Marion they have rules setup to keep kids off the phone but kids will freak out if you push them to that point. the culture here is fantastic but again while trying to teach everyone just gravitates to trying to get on phone. i believe that the weight room i work in is fantastic because there not aloud on there phones.  overall great school just a cellular device problem and i think that nation wide.

transitions / goodbyes

This week was very hard for me in the terms of mentality of trying to put in a happy face even though I was kind of sad to see all my newfound students and all my new coworkers and friends for the last time. I tried very hard over the last few weeks to really overemphasize how grateful and how important it was that I needed to learn skills that I picked up from my cooperating teacher as well as my school. I believe that in every good bye There's an opportunity to say hello again as well as this could be the last time I know that sounds kind of silly but I'm trying to make a good impression on everyone I need regardless of what school I'm at or what grade level it might be. But I have a good relationship with the school even as a student teachers and important task just because I know there's a lot that goes into being a good teacher but it's what it takes to be a good staff in a building as well . I received letters of recommendation which was very important to me as well as thoughtful of them to give me because I know that helps me and my future endeavors but any who I am very grateful for at the time I spent in Novak Elementary and I'm even more grateful for the relationships and friends I have now made.

making connections with students

I think from my first placement I've been making great connections with students either it being every day within the hall interactions or car duty in the morning. It's a giant variety of how I make connections with students because some students I connected with right away at the beginning of the school year they took a liking to me and they were very easy going compared to other students that it took up until last week them seeing me walk in the parade for homecoming with them. I think there's a lot of different ways you can make connections with students but I believe it's the time the dedication that really sparks those connections because they end to trust you more as well as see that you can also be fun and silly at the same time or for me that's how it works anyways because there so young. I have also made very good connections by making myself present in the hallways during passing times as well as maybe by the doors by recess when they're coming in or even down at lunch i'll make appearance once or twice a week just to check on stuff and see how people are doing

Blog topic #4 Diverse learners

The first thing that came to my mind this week when looking at the topic diverse learners was my recent experiences with in my class. Those experiences being adaptive physical education or children within my class that had behavioral issues It's a very wide range when it comes to physical education but you always have to be ahead of the curve and proactive on these things because it's so easy to let these kids kind of just sift into the rest of the class while not paying much attention but these kids probably need the most amount of help. That help can look a variety of ways but for the most part it's just being there for the individual such as making all activities or mostly all activities suitable for adaptive PE as well as not as many challenging competition games I love competition but it's one of those things that can definitely spark children with behavioral issues. So I work around that by setting the games as cooperative as one class goal or maybe based on your own progress so individuals don't feel so pressured to win necessarily. I just think it's very important to definitely remember adaptive physical education because those kids don't get Enough time within physical education so the minutes they do get should be important and meaningful.

Blog topic :asking for specific feedback #3

I talked to my cooperating teacher throughout the week as well as the week before on my feedback on how I was doing. It came to my attention that While teaching I was slowly incorporating new things and correcting myself compared to my last classes, what I mean by this is the feedback that my cooperating  teacher had written for me in a book was also what I was changing proactively before reading what she had wrote. I try to be very attentive on what I am saying and what I am doing within my class because students can take it many different ways but as well as how I can better teach them and make it simpler for them to understand is a big goal of mine. I asked for some specific feedback and all she really said was is that I kept correcting myself as I was continuing to teach as well as just my wording and how I approached things could use a little work but other than that she said she was nitpicking. I think it's very important to ask for specific feedback because it allows you to really see down to the roots of things and see how well you're actually doing. In a sense it's almost like having another pair of eyes on you to help you better prepare yourself when there isn't another pair of eyes on you ( aka : when we full time teach).

First Impressions - Professional Development and Classroom Setup blog #2

I believe that my first impressions went very well in my first week of school I met with very different members of the community within our school all the way from the principal to the lunch ladies I think it was very important to meet these individuals because in a real school once I get a job I will want to know personnel and become family with Personnel because I believe that is the way that a functioning School works fantastically more along the lines of Pride and culture than a structured time settlement of learning. I believe that continuous professional growth is essential for creating an engaging and effective PE program. First impressions in the classroom setup also extend to how I greet and interact with students on the first day. I ensure that my introduction is warm and energetic, and I take the time to learn each student’s name quickly, making them feel valued from the start. I tried my absolute best to learn names but I could only learn so many. The first day of school I introduced myself through a PowerPoint and used pictorial and video examples to help engage the students.  For more classroom setup I have the gymnasium or PE room so I have a little bit more set up on the physical end of things such as making sure balls were pumped up and the floor was okay to be used and the equipment was just safe overall compared to the traditional teachers classroom.  but we were very proactive and my cooperating teacher and we pretty much finished all of our classroom setup in one day and from there we just focused on preparing for the school year and developing my skills and ideas to use later on in life.
