I would say that the best part of my second placement is having those deep and meaningful conversations with students that actual spark learning as well as the joking more off topic conversations that's all high school is , communication and learning. I try and push my students in class and build the foundation of having a strong confidence in speaking/speech. strategies I've learned is having time management and work load. students will get burnt out if i just continue to talk to teach which i tend to do. i have been working on giving students time to digest as well as have built in breaks with in a lesson. i want to allow them to hit a check point in my learning allowing them to have self made and DOK ideas/thoughts. Students retain more information as well as can apply it i have found this out throughout my lessons and teachings that if i try and teach a heavier work load in greater amount of time it tends to not stick as well or have more basic questions that have been covered. just having that control ad being able to read when kids are about to jump ship is important.
I have also been trying to slow down my teaching to allows my students to understand the content I am teaching. Giving them little breaks or short pauses of think time is a good way of doing this.
ReplyDeleteI can only burnout from a physical education perspective compared to music. I've learned at my current placement more than my first about important 'reading the room' is!
